Harris Teeter, SUPER DOUBLES!!!!!

Yes they are trying something new, they will double up to $1.98 on June 24-30. I think the 20 limit will still apply. Remember that Harris Teeter is cracking down on 20 coupons doubled or triples per day per household. This means you can no longer go to another store in the same day and do 20 more coupons. IT used to be that your vic card will let you do 5 transactions in one day before the system would not let you do it. Well acording to my Hubby who works for HT, says they have changed the vic cards, they will only let you do one transaction per day. I have not tryed this out for myself.

Free Brithday Goodies

My husband and I both have birthdays coming up in the next week. It's nice to go out and not have too cook for you birthday, but wouldn't it be nicer if it was FREE?! We are Back!

Sorry I have not posted on here for a while! We were out of town for almost 2 weeks, and I am still trying to get back into the grove of things! We had a great time at Disney, and I am planning on posting some money saving tips for Disney soon!

Cheap snacks at Target

Today I was at my local target and snagged some pretty good deals for snack items. Those of you that know me, know I rarely buy things like fruit snacks and little bags of crackers, juice boxes, etc. mostly because I am cheap!:) Well we have a trip coming up to Disney and I know it will be helpful to have these types of snacks on hand, because I am NOT buying over priced food in there!:)
I went to http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/view.php?pg=cpngenerator and printed the target coupons that I wanted.
So what did I get? I got a 20 pack of Capri Suns for $2.49. They were on sale for $4.49- $1 off target coupon, plus the $1 off coupon that was in the paper 2 Sunday's ago.
Market Pantry fruit snacks were marked down to $1.44- $1 off coupon.
There are several different Nabisco snack coupons, which ended up being a good deal with some sales, even better if you have some Nabisco coupons from a few weeks ago.
The fruit snack coupon expires on 4-25-09

Harris Teeter Triples April 29-May 5

They are here again! And for a full week! I will try to get a list up soon of what is a good deal. If you are not familiar with triples, Harris Teeter has been doing them about once a month latley. You can use up to 20 coupons that triple per transaction per day. They will triple up to $.99. So a $.75 coupon becomes $2.25. If you use any $1 or more coupons, those do not count toward your 20. Free 2 year subcription to Parents Magazine

Yes I mean free, if you have never done one of these free magazine subscriptions before, you may be a little uneasy. I have done quite a few of these and yes, they are free. My general rule of thumb is if it asks for your debit card info it is not free!:) The way these work is they ask you a real quick survey, like what kind of shampoo you use, etc. Then, you get to pick from 2 or 3 things that you want for payment of your service. Free Diapers for Diaper Study

Is your child currently wearing size 4 diapers? Is so, I know of a great way to get them for free! I just was signed up for a diaper study, I have never been in one before, but I have heard that they are great. They send you a box of diapers to your door, you use them, then they sent up a time when they can call you back to answer some questions. Then they send you $10 in the mail for the work you did! Free diapers and money!!!! They are currently only testing size 4 right now, both for boys and girls. However if you are interested I may just call anyway and leave your info with your child's size, so that when they do start a new study, you are already on there list. I called about 6 weeks ago and just got a call this week. Good luck!

Harris Teeter Deals

This week Harris Teeter is tripling up to $.99. Limit of 20 coupons tripled per transaction per day. Of you have coupons that are above a $1, you can use as many as those, there are no limits on how many coupons you use, except for Internet coupons, 2 coupons per item.
If you haven't been to Harris Teeter yet and you have one near you, they have some great deals. Tip from my sis-in-law, the Arboretum Harris Teeter is great for triples! Not alot of people shopping and decent selection, not sold out alot. I guess people in the rich part of town aren't too worried about the economy?:) My guess is the Harris Teeter in South Park would be good too. If you do go to, HT has a great deal this week when you buy 10 participating General Mills products, they take $4 off. I got 9 cans of the small Pillsbury biscuits, they were BOGO, so they were $.79 each, plus I used 3/ $.50 off of 3 cans. Then I panicked and couldn't find anything else that was included in the deal that I had a coupon for. So I got a $1.27 pizza (and don't tell, but I for once I DID NOT USE A COUPON!) But I still came out a head. After coupons and the -$4, they paid me $.07!!! Not bad, but now I need to figure out what on earth to do with 9 things of biscuits!:)

How to get started with coupons

Coupons 101
How to use coupons sucessfully you might ask? It has taken me some time to figure it out, but once you do, it really is worth all the effort with the amount of money that you can save. Here are a few things that I have learned along the way.
KNOW THE COUPON CODE
In order to get a good deal with a coupon usally sale+coupon= good deal. Try to combine the 2. I have found that using a coupon for an item that's on sale is often cheaper than the store brand.
STAY ORGANIZED
It is so important to know what coupons you have, but it can be hard to keep them in order. For me I try to keep it simple, I don't clip all my coupons, I punch holes in them and put them in a 3 ring binder, then clip when I need them. Some people use a checking folder, an index box ect. find a way that works for you to keep your coupons in order.
COUPONS
This may seem basic, but one question many people ask me is “How do you get all those coupons?” Sunday Paper inserts is one way. You can buy mulitple papers, I do this when the coupons are really good and for items that my family uses regualy. One those weeks I may buy 2 or 3 papers. Ask family and friends who don't use there coupons. Sometimes if you call or email a company and rave about their product, they will send you coupons. There are also coupon clipping services out there and yes they even sell coupons on Ebay! (if you do buy from ebay, just make sure you buy from your region, trust me South Dakota does not have the same brands that they sell in North Carolia, can you tell I learned that the hard way?)
PLAN AHEAD
Know what store has what on sale and have a list, I have found that if I go into a store prepared, it really cuts back on time, which is real important to me.
BE FLEXIBILE
Be willing to try a different brand! If you are open to other brands, there are more deals out there for you. As always, don't buy something that you know you won't use just becase you have a coupon.
LEARN TO STOCKPILE
When there is a great deal and you have coupons to get mulitible items, stock up. While stock piling, take into consideration how much you use and what kind of space you have to store things. For example, if cearl is on sale, and with your coupon it is $0.20 a box, don't get 20 if your family only goes through 1 a week! But if you go through 5 or 6 boxes, it not such a bad idea, if you have the space. A lot of times shopping this way holds me over to the next sale.
REWARD CARDS
Reward cards are great and almost everyone has some form of them, whether it's a Harris Teeter card or CVS. Some stores will reward you with in store gift cards if you buy certain items. Target does this, Walgreens ect. Or they will give you some kind of store credit, like CVS. If done correctly, you can roll these over to you next purchace.
KNOW THE FINE PRINT
Make sure you know what the coupon says in the little print that no one looks at! I cannot tell you how many times I bought something only to find out at check out, that the coupon said for 2 and I only bought one. Check if it specifies size. I always go for the smallest allowed to make for less per ounce. Remember if they don't take your coupon and it is not a good deal, you don't have to get it.
DON'T REINVENT THE WHEEL
Don't stress out over trying to plan your shopping trip. Use different recouses that are alreay out there. There are many free web sites that post a shopping list each week and tell what is on sale and you coupon to match it with. That is why I don't clip my coupons, I just lable what week they came out. I print my list, find my coupons in my binder, put in an envople pocket for that store and off I go.
TRY TO HAVE FUN
It may be stressful at first, but you will figure it out, try to enjoy it and make the most of it. Just think if you get a lot of tolitrie items for cheap or free, try blessing someone in need or give to a shelter. Clipping coupons has allowed me to same my family lots of money and still help other people at the same time, to me that is a win win situation.

We went this morning on our way to my coupon class, and Sammy was Trilled! There are 4 different ones to chose from and we have Thomas and Percy, so I thought we could get a new one, but no my son HAD to have another "Percy" because this one has lights and makes sounds! So cool when you are 2! The train was $17.99 and we did not have to buy anything. Great for me since Sammy is so into the Thomas stuff, but it is expensive! So this was my deal of the week, when the 2 year old is happy, so is mommy!

Couponing 101

Last weekend I had my first couponing 101 class at my house. I have a bunch of my girlfriends over and I gave the scoop on how to get started on couponing. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and wanted more! I was afraid that I overwhelmed everyone because I use coupons for EVERYTHING and did what them to feel like they had to do that to, this has taken me a while to get here.
So this is what I am going to do, I am doing a coupon class at my home (in the Concord/Kannapolis NC area) the first Saturday of every month at 1:30. Each month I will cover a different topic. For April, I will cover how to "play the CVS game" all the ins and outs for cvs and how to shop there for pennies or dimes :) using their reward system. You are probably wondering what I do with all the broccoli, I freeze it.

I would say it was a pretty good week!

We are almost Debt free! Still getting there, but sure getting close! At the end of February, we paid off our second to the last debt. It felt SOOO Good to make a check out for $1200 and be done with that debt FOREVER! Now we are on to our last debt, our mini van.
We took Dave Ramsey's class at out Church this past fall. Since Sept 2008, we have managed to pay off half of the debt that we had, $14000. For us, who never had money before, or a savings and lived pay check to pay check, this is huge! It has been such a blessing to know that yes even us, who don't make much can live on even less and set goals!
We have learned to live on yes even less and be good stewards of what God has given us.

Cents in saving

My husband and I have always lived frugally. Ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you I can really stretch a buck. But recently I took it to a whole new level! About a year and a half ago I started clipping coupons and figured out how to get things really cheap. Then about 6 months ago my husband and I wonder how much we could really live off of. So it became a challenge and I kicked into high gear. Double and triple coupons are now common conversations in our house:). I have had many friends and family ask me how to really save money, so this is my atempt. Enjoy!
